angelFall - Samurai Schoolgirl

This is the first in my series of AngelFall album artworks.

AngleFall is a fake Metal band who plays a compilation of Symphonic, Power, and Progressive Metals. Their lyrics are sometimes dark, revolving around topics of religion, hate, war, love, nature, and fantasy. Although they follow such topics the band puts a humanistic spin on the theme. Songs are often first person, revolving around a real-life situation or event. Violence is not featured, but the aftermath is, with "flashbacks" to the actual event giving a helpless feeling to the songs.
There is also a lighter dark side to the band, and can be witnessed in some album titles. There are usually some oddly titled songs, such as "Circus boy", which tells the tale of a prepubescent boy loosing his way in a carnival, wondering through all sorts of interesting locations, ending up in the lion cage, and making friends with their mouths. Although it may sound unpleasant, the lyrics are written in a "dark humor" sort of way.

History:
The band was formed in Febuary 2006, in Enebakk, Norway. For about two years, AngelFall consisted of only Gunnar, Svinvar, and Olaf. They played a combination of Black and Power Metal. The band name falls in line with the religious theme, and the bands honest wish for all the "Angels to fall from the fucking sky". After achieving limited success as a cover band playing live they began working on their first album, then known just as "AngelFall". Very quickly they realized none of them were capable of writing complete, complex songs that stood a chance gaining label support. Olaf also expressed the wish to move in a more progressive direction, with a keyboard involved. The others agreed and the search for a keyboardist and songwriter began. Because of their reputation as a competent cover band, they had a name that could spread throughout the underground. Months later they were contacted by Garth Leland-Orrick. They met and he was immediately added to the lineup.
Now that they had a songwriter, composer, and keyboardist they began work on AngelFall - AngelFall. After fully recording three tracks Garth suggested they bring in a second guitarist, specifically for live shows, as well as a clean vocalist, which he believed would fit better with the new power-symph-prog style. Gunnar agreed as long as he could continue his vocals alongside. The endeavor was fruitless however, and they continued to work on the current album. AngelFall hoppd making a bigger name for themselves would entice possible candidates. AngelFall - Samurai Schoolgirl was published by Nuclear Blast in May 2009. The album name, instead of relating to the content, instead relates to an exclamation made by Garth during a spell of writers block, "I can't concentrate on this fucking music...Its like watching porn where a schoolgirl dressed as a samurai is getting fucked by a monk. You're all like, "Yeah, OK, this is unique i guess, but its not like you're a real ninja or anything...Or even that attractive! You must be forty!" Then it makes your brain all fuzzy from the stupidity of it all and you can't fucking think about the base track anymore!"
After the record was released it sold surprisingly well, and prompted some attention from the metal community for the complex keyboard and base work. AngelFall was about to began a short tour around Norway when a young man, Ray, claiming to be a guitarist literally knocked on the door. After an audition they agreed he was completely capable of playing the background guitar which was previously recorded by Gunnar. This would have been an issue on the tour. Two months later they played their first venue.
Shortly after the tour, and old friend of Garth's contacted him asking if there was room for a classically trained clean vocalist in the band.
AngelFall is currently working on their second album, the first to feature Ray and Felix.


I created the name AngleFall as well as the above information and any association to anything else is completely accidental.
